Smoothie Bowls

Transform your mornings with delicious smoothie bowls. These recipes are designed to be eaten with a spoon and are creamier and thicker than a traditional smoothie. It’s a bit like having a healthy version of ice cream for breakfast. All you need is a blender and 5 minutes.

Smoothie bowls have become the breakfast trend of the moment and its easy to see why. Filling and full of nutrients, smoothie bowls are a fast and simple way to have a few serves of fresh fruit and vegetables before its even 9am.

As the name suggests smoothie bowls are eaten in a bowl rather than a glass, then topped with fresh fruit, roasted nuts, seeds, muesli, shredded coconut, seeds and many other delicious options. This adds a wonderful crunch and texture to the smoothie and boosts the protein and nutritional value of the meal.

There are endless ways to mix and match ingredients to make your own smoothie bowl combinations, depending on the season and what you have in the fridge. You can use a mix of fresh or frozen fruit, but make sure at least one fruit is frozen, as this is what gives smoothie bowls their creamy, thick texture. Tip: always peel bananas before you freeze them you only need to leave the skin on once to realise why.
